Leopard Nail Art Round-Up

Tuesday, May 21, 2013

I am captivated with the leopard print in nail design. It is a simple design that can take on so many different looks with random colors. While going through my iPhone pics I noticed that I have a lot of leopard designs so I thought might as well have a round up and share them with you here.

The leopard design is really easy to do and no special tools are needed, I use a bobby pin and make the letter 'C' shapes around the blob of color. There are several tutorials out there in blog land, pretty sure Pinterest introduced me to the trend, you can follow my nail art board here.

Over the months my leopard design has evolved and you can see that it can be done on super short nails or long nails, it doesn't discriminate!!

I find that it is better to use a light base color but really any color will work. I have even seen leopard designs that use a matte nail polish in the same color like this one here:

Handmade Goodies for The Luxe Gen

Monday, May 20, 2013

Thank you cards are a huge part of the referral network for The Luxe Gen. I was so excited to work on these hand-painted note cards. The peacock feather as my inspiration, combined with  Martha Stewart glitter and some patience. A few weeks ago I scored on a three pack of Martha Stewart glitter that included the colors: blueberry slush, wintermint and sour apple. I got all three for a cool $1.99 at Marshall's. I always check the stationary section when I'm there because lots of times I score on things I wouldn't normally purchase. Another little secret...shhhh...don't tell anyone, I also score the four pack of AdTech glue runners for $4.99!!

I'm Just a Girl Lookin' For A Discount!
Each stroke is done with the glue pen that was in the glitter pack. I used black as the base because the glitter has an iridescent sparkle that really pops with black. The card base is Kraft and the favor box is from Michael's with purple ribbon. Here is a great tutorial on how to tie a bow so the box lies flush with its surface.

If you are in the need of some nice custom handmade business stationary or thank you cards please contact me for a custom order form.

Skittles Inspired Nail Design

Just like crafting I enjoy getting inspiration from those things around me. This particular day I was inspired by the Skittles colors. Some of the pictures are blurry...but its going to have to do for now as I hone in on my photography skills. I took step by step pictures up to the point of adding the black stripes, which on some nails will be tiger stripes and others the leopard striping.

With neon colors I like to start with a white base, this will help the color pop and will give the nail color a brighter effect. The base of this nail was completed by adding stripes of each color on top of the white nail base. After all colors are complete you can go in with black nail polish and add your design.

Valentine's Day Goodies: Showin' Him Some Good Old Fashion Love

Wednesday, February 27, 2013

We have a yearly tradition around here for the month of February, it is our official anniversary month and we celebrate every single day with some kind of special 'love' theme. This year was structured the same as last year in that he took the first 14 days of Valentine's and I take the last 14 days.

The month is coming to an end and I wanted to share with you all some of my favorite activities for him for our month of LOVE.

This is just a preview...my plan is to put together a few tutorials with some of the projects I completed. I enjoyed pampering my man and letting him know that I love him in more ways than just saying it all of the time.

I don't always update my blog in a timely fashion. So for those of you who enjoy my work you will get way more updates over on instagram. Follow me here on instagram.

The Perfect DIY Man Card for Valentine's Day

Friday, February 8, 2013

Its about that time of year where I have to get extra creative for the 14 days of Valentines! We have a yearly tradition for sharing the countdown to Valentine's Day, and this month he is taking the first 14 days and I will be taking the last 14 days so that we have a full month of Valentine's!!! And I absolutely love it, better than Christmas because he is so romantic and sweet. I thought this card creation would be perfect for the man in your life for Valentine's Day. It also works for a Thank You card, a Congratulations Card, Graduation Card,  Men's B-day Card, or Just Because.

I got the tutorial over at this blog here...the original post is not in English but if you translate it and can follow pictures then it shouldn't be too difficult.

I of course always have to take it to the next level...so the details and embossing on these cards help to add dimension. The vest opens up to a blank canvas where you can put any message you would like. Put aside a few hours for this project and make two at the same time...You'll thank me later!!! They are so stinkin' cute!!!

Aren't they just absolutely the most perfect card for a man that you can think of...I won't be giving this one to my man this year...but I have something brewing so stay tuned for what he "WILL GET" in a few days.

I also have a huge Pinterest Board dedicated to the Valentine's Day Holiday you can check it out here, subscribe for ideas all year round.
